NEPAL. Kingdom of Kathmandu. Jaya Prakasha Malla, second reign, 1750-1768. Mohar NS 873 = AD 1753 (Silver, 29 mm, 5.40 g). A trident within a pointed octagon surrounded by ‘śrī 2 Jaya Prakāśa Malla’ (‘Lord Lord Jaya Prakasha Malla’ in Newar); around the octagon, ‘Nepāleśvara 873’ (‘Lord of Nepal 873’ in Newar); eight auspicious signs within the eight petals around the octagon; all within a circle surrounded by a beaded border. Rev. Within an octofoil, a triangle surrounded by ‘śrī 3 Taleju Māju’ (‘Lord Lord Lord Taleju Maju’ in Newar); within the eight petals around the octofoil, ‘śrī śrī śrī Kumārī Māju’ (‘Lord Lord Lord Kumari Maju’ in Newar); in the outer angles, ‘śrī Mahīpatendra Malla’ (‘Lord Mahipatendra Malla’ in Newar). KM 261. Nicely toned. A few minor scratches, otherwise, about very fine.
